Royal Convention Centre

Convention hall, Mysore, Karnataka

A convention centre front wrapped in geometric jali panels that glow at dusk, behind a sweeping curved canopy.

The front at dusk: jali panels across the upper facade, and the curved canopy over the entrance.
The lattice close up, lit from behind.

The upper front of this convention centre is clad in large jali panels with a fine geometric lattice. In the evening, with the halls lit, the pattern shows across the whole facade, which suits a building used mostly for evening functions.

A curved canopy in a copper finish sweeps across the jali above the entrance, and tall white pylons at the corner carry the centre’s name in Kannada and English.

Panels like these are cast to one repeating pattern and joined edge to edge, so a long facade reads as one continuous screen.
