A jali is a perforated screen. It lets air and light through while breaking up the view, which is why it turns up on elevations, balconies, stair cores and courtyards. In GRC the screen is cast in a mould, so the pattern can follow a traditional design, a geometric grid or a drawing of your own.
We make jalis as panels sized to your opening. A large screen is made as several panels that are joined on site, and where those joints fall is agreed at the drawing stage, so they sit inside the pattern rather than cutting across it.
How a jali is specified
The pattern, panel size, thickness and finish are confirmed per project once we’ve seen your drawings. If you’re not sure how big each panel should be, send the overall opening size and we’ll propose a layout.

Questions about jalis and screens
Can you make a jali from a photo or a sketch?
Yes. Send it with the size of the opening. We'll tell you whether we can work from it as it is or need a measured drawing, and we'll confirm the pattern with you before the mould is made.
Can GRC jalis be used on the outside of a building?
GRC jalis are widely used on exteriors, on elevations, balconies and compound walls. We'll confirm suitability for your site, the size of each panel and how it's fixed once we've seen your drawings.
Do you have standard patterns to choose from?
Most jalis are made to the project's own design. Tell us the look you're after, or share an example you like, and we'll suggest where to start.
