Where GRC and FRP are used

Choose a building type to see the pieces it usually calls for, and where each one goes. Below each drawing are our projects of that type.

Residential

Villas, apartments and gated communities

Point at a piece to see where it goes. Tap a marker to find the piece in this list.

On a villa, GRC and FRP usually do the work of an elevation: jalis on a stair core or balcony, columns and an arch at the entrance, cornices along the roofline, planters on the terrace. On an apartment block or a gated community, the same pieces repeat across many units, and a mould makes every one match.

Send the elevation and we’ll suggest which pieces suit GRC, which suit FRP and which could be either.

Commercial

Offices, hotels, retail and hospitality

Point at a piece to see where it goes. Tap a marker to find the piece in this list.

Commercial buildings tend to use GRC and FRP at the scale of the facade: cladding panels, fins, screens and elevation features, plus entrance details and planters for lobbies and forecourts.

These projects usually come with full drawings and a specification. Send both, and we’ll work from them.

Institutional

Schools, hospitals and public buildings

Point at a piece to see where it goes. Tap a marker to find the piece in this list.

Schools, hospitals and public buildings use GRC for facade panels, jalis and fins, and FRP for tanks, gutters and elements that need a smooth finish. The specification often sets requirements for the materials, so send it with the drawings and we’ll confirm suitability for your project.

Religious

Temples and mosques

Point at a piece to see where it goes. Tap a marker to find the piece in this list.

Temples and mosques are where GRC’s ability to carry detail matters most: domes and minarets, jalis, arches, capitals and relief work, made from moulds shaped to the design. FRP is used for columns, arches and decorative elements where a smooth painted finish is wanted.

Traditional designs can be matched from drawings or photographs. Tell us what you have.

Industrial

Industrial buildings and tank applications

Point at a piece to see where it goes. Tap a marker to find the piece in this list.

On industrial sites the work is mostly FRP: storage tanks, gutters, waterproofing and custom components. GRC is used for facade panels on industrial buildings and for noise barriers.

For tanks, suitability always depends on what the tank will hold. Tell us exactly what’s being stored, and we’ll confirm suitability before we quote.

Landscape

Gardens, courtyards, terraces and public spaces

Point at a piece to see where it goes. Tap a marker to find the piece in this list.

Landscape work uses GRC for planters, fountains, garden features and sculpture, where a cast stone or concrete look suits the setting, and FRP for pots and planters in a smooth or coloured finish.

If pieces are going to a terrace or an upper floor, tell us how they’ll be lifted.

Renovation and restoration

Existing and heritage buildings

Point at a piece to see where it goes. Tap a marker to find the piece in this list.

Renovation usually means matching what’s already there: a cornice profile, a run of balusters, a capital or a piece of ornament. A mould taken from a measured drawing, a photo or a surviving piece lets new work match the old.

Send photos, measurements and, if you have one, a sample piece. We’ll tell you what we need to match it, and whether a site measurement is needed.
