Bismilla Green Masjid
A contemporary white mosque whose projecting bays are wrapped in full-height square-lattice jali screens.
This mosque is a contemporary building in white. Its angled bays project from the main block, and each is wrapped from ground to parapet in a jali screen with a simple square lattice.
The screens let light and air into the rooms behind while giving the street front a fine, even texture. Along the side, the same lattice fills the gaps between the deep window bays, tying the elevation together.
Large screens like these are made as a series of panels and assembled on the building, which is how a jali can run the full height of several floors.
