Infant Jesus Shrine
A grand entrance gateway for a shrine: a wide arch on paired pillars, with figures of kneeling angels and lettered panels.
The entrance to this shrine is marked by a large gateway. A wide arch spans the drive between two pillars, with the shrine’s name in raised letters across it, and a pediment above that rises to a cross.
Kneeling angel figures, finished in gold, sit on either side of the arch, and moulded capitals and brackets finish the pillars. Lettered panels on the pillars carry inscriptions in English and Tamil.
Figures, lettering and mouldings like these are each cast from their own mould, which lets a gateway carry this much detail.
